Congressional Summer Schedule Update

The House will recess for the Independence Day District Work Period after votes on Friday, June 27, and return to Capitol Hill for votes after 6:30 pm on Tuesday, July 8. The Senate is expected to take a similar break. This is an opportunity for constituents to meet with Members of the Congress in their states and districts.

Many Representatives and Senators, especially those facing competitive primaries or general elections, will attend parades and other public events. Many will host town hall meetings. These Members of Congress well know that voters live in their districts. Some, however, may not know your interests may lie in issues outside their disrict. That’s why face-to-face meetings by individuals or groups with your Representative, Senators and/or their staff demonstrates our interest in issues within their district as well as issues outside their district and our most potent political power – our numbers.

There are at least three good ways to contact congressional offices to learn Members schedules or arrange a meeting: 1) use the Congressional Dierctories at congress.org, 2) use the House of Representatives or the U.S. Senate web pages, or, 3) use your local phone directories.

This is an election year and your elected representatives are eager to hearr from the people that may vote for them.
