S. 1476 - Tule Lake Segregation Center Special Resource Study Act

As ordered reported by the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources on January 30, 2008, S. 1476 would direct the Department of the Interior to conduct a special resource study to determine the national significance of the Tule Lake Segregation Center, California, and the feasibility and suitability of including the site in the National Park System. The bill would require the department to report its findings and recommendations to the appropriate Congressional committees within three years of receiving funding for the study.

Assuming the availability of appropriated funds, CBO estimates that it would cost $200,000 over the next three years to complete the required study and report. Enacting this legislation would not affect direct spending or revenues.

S. 1476 contains no intergovernmental or private-sector mandates as defined in the Unfunded Mandates Reform Act and would impose no costs on state, local, or tribal governments.
